Sutton were promoted from the CML Premier Division to the Supreme Division as part of the reorganisation that the formation of the EMCL entailed. Forest Town were denied promotion to the NCEL / EMCL even though they finished in 2nd place in the league behind Champions Askern Welfare.
With a promise that floodlighting was going to be installed, (installation now completed) you would have thought the two step 6 leagues would have welcomed Forest Town into their fold.. but it was not to be.
So the teams meet in the CMLS - and with Sutton currently 5 wins from 5 and Forest Town 4 wins, a draw and a loss from their 6 games, it ought to be a cracker.
Danny Bryant ( Sutton) and Gary Castledine ( Forest Tn) were colleagues at Eastwood Town a few years back, but the last time that Kev and me saw them in opposition was in our first league fixture of last season. Danny was then manager of Heanor Town and if memory serves, performed heroically in goal to help earn Heanor victory -- then after the game we met up, and he was carrying the kit bag !!
This looks like it should be a high-scoring encounter, with both teams currently averaging 3 goals scored per game so far. We should not be looking at a none-noner !! Famous last words!!
