Forest Town 1-1 Newark Town --- CML Supreme Division

A top of the table clash that didn't quite live up to expectations, and if Forest Town miss out on a trophy by a couple of points then their keeper Jason Johnson will feel even worse than I imagine he felt after this game was over. His glaring error of judgement halfway throught the second half gifted Newark an equalising goal.

Mind you, it has to be said that 1-1 was probably a fair result -- neither team managed to play any decent football and for one team to have walked away with all three points would have been something of an injustice.

The home team went ahead on 33 - the Newark defence failed to clear a corner, and allowing the home team three chances to score. After two goal-line blocks, the ball eventually fell to MARK CARTER ( I think) and he had he simple task of tapping in from close range. H-T 1-0

Newark have a few big lads - and when no. 15 LUKE PARSONS went on, he added even more height to the team. It was the tall striker who levelled after 67 minutes, when Johnson called for the ball when it was never his - and the covering defender left it for Parsons who was left an open goal to tap into from an acute angle. F-T 1-1

Not much more to say apart from IT WAS BLOODY COLD AGAIN!!!!!!! arrrgghhhhh damn weather.....!!

Admission £3

Programme -- none left, but Mr. Peter Craggs donated his -- many thanks, Peter

Tea - £0.50 Kev gave it a 9/10

Coffee - also a 9/10 -- missed the mugs - much better than the styrofoam cups.

Attendance - not too many for a top of the table clash, but a few from Newark made it up to about 40 I would estimate..

Decent Referee again - Rob Rees take a bow.

Friday - dependant on the weather really -- either Belper v Glapwell or Carlton v Loughbro in the afternoon - then off to the New Manor Ground to see ilkeston v Eastwood.

Bit of a damp squib, not the sort of goal you want to drop points to.

As always, thanks for the neutral view Malc. SOmetimes I do get carried away with our own agenda and it is nice to read an objective view.

For the record I thought we were good enough to win, but didn't get that all important 2nd goal and paid for it.

Hope to see you again soon Malc, Semis and Finals time so we should bump into each other.
